I'm not one to write journal entries but I figured I'd bury the only one I wrote with something new. Being mostly self-taught in art I'm always on the prowl for good books or videos that can help me be a better artist. I've bought some good books (Making Comics by Scott McCloud and George Bridgman's Constructive Anatomy among others), I've borrowed some from the library (Dr. Paul Richer's Artistic Anatomy and DC Comics Guide to Lettering and Coloring among others) and I've downloaded some (from sites like
[link] where you can at least get one Andrew Loomis book in pdf). There are plenty of nefarious methods one could go about to acquire some books and videos (like download a torrent or use a file sharing website) but I won't promote it so as to avoid the unlikely (but possible I assume) chance of getting prosecuted or offending someone on this site. With a simple google search, the name of whatever you want (be it a book or video or music) you can easily find a link to rapidshare or whatever. I figure everyone knows this but I'm surprised when I meet someone who doesn't. There are also great hi-rez jpegs of fine art you can get from places like
[link] (which also has strong opinions about the state of art today which you have to judge for yourself).
With all of these resources I find it hard to study it all but it's always better to have too much information than not enough.
Much love for adding me to your watch
